About Round 3 Competition

In its delivery, the County Innovation Challenge Fund invites innovations that can deliver impact and increase access to and/or utilisation of quality Maternal And Newborn Health services within the unique socio-demographic contexts of the six focus counties.

About Us

County Innovation Challenge Fund (CICF) is a £16 million, three-year grant fund created in 2015. The CICF is funded by the U.K. Department for International Development (DFID) supporting the Government of Kenya’s efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.

Why the Fund

Kenya has made impressive progress in reducing the under-five and infant (< 1 year) mortality rates over the last decade. However, despite the strong political will and an enabling policy environment, the achievement of targets is still elusive.

Our Counties

The six counties in which the County Innovation Challenge Fund will operate represent the highest burden of maternal deaths. There is therefore an enormous opportunity to address these challenges within the six focal counties.
